 Job Summary:                                                      
The Building and Facilities Manager is responsible for performing diverse facilities, maintenance, safety and compliance duties.  General objectives include recommendations, coordination, and/or independent installations, troubleshooting, and repairs to the building and equipment. They will also cover preventative maintenance of production and facility equipment according to preventative maintenance schedules and emergency repairs to support the organizations business goals and objectives.

 Job Responsibilities:

Overseeing or independently performing:

  • Install and maintain production machines and facility equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unplanned repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production and facility machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and adjust.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance, electrical and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand/power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Operate and maintain company delivery vehicle, maintain required operators’ licenses.
  • Maintain safe and accessible facility grounds, including snow removal, salt application, sprinkler maintenance, hazard identification.
  • Operate and maintain facility maintenance equipment including floor scrubbers, snow removal equipment, grounds equipment.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Maintain inventory levels of consumable parts.

 Additional Duties:

  • Building contract review and maintenance (HVAC, grounds, fire suppression equipment, etc)
  • Scheduling recurring maintenance tasks with subcontractors
  • Maintenance contract negotiation
  • General facility systems, inspection and upkeep

 Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience; Management experience preferred
  • Technical – Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical and industrial skills with some PLC experience.
  • Preferred Equipment Experience– JUKI sewing machines, conveyor systems, cutting presses, C&C cutting equipment

 Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has one supervisory responsibility.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and will involve standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.  

 Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Overtime or off-shift work as required.
