Job Summary: Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Major Duties:

  • Directs and coordinates the Bureau's budget development process culminating in the appropriation requests to the Department of Justice, the Office of Management and Budget, the Office of National Drug Control Policy, and the Congress. Responsible for the development of the Bureau's response to requirements of the Government Performance and Results Act. Prepares Prison Impact Assessment for new Administration initiatives and proposed legislation. Responsible for developing policy, providing expert advice in an area of correctional specialty, or to provide guidance, direction, supervision, advice and/or evaluation for program or programs in correctional facilities.

Qualifications: To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience in the formulation, justification and presentation of agency's budget estimates to upper management, Office of Management and Budget, and Congress. Experience in directing and/or providing oversight for the formulation of an agency's formal appropriations request. Experience performing analysis to resolve financial issues and/or made recommendations that had major impact on an organization. Experience in the development of reprogramming proposals, or formulation of supplemental appropriation requests. Experience applying extensive knowledge of budget concepts including those in other financial disciplines in a federal government setting. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
