Do you love to multi-task and enjoy juggling competing priorities? Are you organized with a passion for budget and healthcare administration? Consider applying for our Budget and Eligibility Specialist position, where you will play a key role in Maricopa County, Correctional Health Services (CHS).
The Budget and Eligibility Specialist is responsible for preparing monthly budget analysis/forecasting along with annual budget development and processing AHCCCS applications to obtain eligibility status for a large healthcare organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day, supporting both internal teams and external stakeholders while ensuring the accurate processing of budget and medical claims data.

We Require
Two years of accounting, budgeting, healthcare compliance or specialized administrative experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Healthcare Compliance or related field
A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
Other Requirements
Must successfully complete a fingerprint/background check with Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office
Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid driver's license by the time of hire

Job Contributions
Assist in the development and analysis of the department’s annual operating budget
Support the preparation and submission of budget proposals in collaboration with the County Budget Office, including assisting with staffing projections, personnel cost modeling, and operational expenditure forecasts
Contribute to monthly budget-to-actual analysis and variance reporting
Assist in monitoring position control and personnel expenditures to help ensure alignment with authorized staffing levels and budget allocations
Assist in maintaining compliance with County budget policies, financial regulations, and applicable laws
Research patient information in HEAPlus and prepare AHCCCS applications to secure eligibility determinations and submit applications to AHCCCS and monitor status
Monitor the CHS Prior Authorization database for outpatient, inpatient, emergency department, and ambulance services
Ensure proper documentation and compliance with PHI and HIPAA requirements
Maintain required certifications and training for HEAPlus, AHCCCS, and CHS systems
Use computer research tools to conduct legal research on statutes, cases, and other sources for legal precedents and regulation compliance
Comprehensively track all legal functions, compiles statistical data for the legal division, and reports data analysis to CHS Leadership
Accept service of process/legal documents, such as Notices of Claim, complaints, and subpoenas, for the department and CHS employees.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office environment
Must be able to work inside a jail and be able to travel within any/all clinics, as well as outside hospitals or other medical facilities when required
May require in-person applications with the patient population and potentially exposure to contagious diseases
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and read for a long period of time
Must be able to perform multiple, complicated tasks and decision making, with accuracy on short deadlines
Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team
The position includes activities and interaction with all levels of County management and personnel
