Job Description:
What's the role?
The Project Engineer will support the delivery of the Prelude Brownfield Project Portfolio, reporting directly to the Brownfield Project Manager. The Brownfield function is accountable for the development of technical concepts and the maturation of projects, including Minor Modifications, Portfolio Projects, and larger Project Management Framework Projects, from the initial identification phase through to project handover and closeout.
Project delivery is through an outsourced model, where the Brownfield team manages the sole EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management) contractor. This includes managing the scope of onshore engineering, procurement, fabrication, and offshore implementation. Therefore, this role requires a strong portfolio and contract management experience rather than traditional project engineering skills.
The Project Engineer will support the integration of the contractor's delivery arm and Shell's internal interfaces, such as discipline engineers/TAs, IAPS (Integrated Asset Planning), MTAC (Maintenance, Turnaround, and Construction) shared services, and other relevant departments. Therefore, this role requires the ability to coordinate, interface and communicate effectively across various stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and successful delivery.
What you bring
Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Strong facilitation and relationship-building abilities; proven experience in collaborative teamwork and effective communication (presentations, written, and verbal).
Project Delivery Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing projects within an EPCM framework, including engineering coordination, procurement, and construction support; familiarity with EPCM workflows and stakeholder management.
Qualifications & Experience: Tertiary Engineering degree or equivalent Project Management accreditation; Significant offshore Brownfield project delivery experience across all phases.
Technical & Commercial Knowledge: Understanding of contract management, project economics, cost estimation, risk management, change control processes, and Shell Process Safety standards; proficiency in project services systems and reporting.
Leadership & Safety Focus: Ability to lead matrixed teams and contractors, promote a strong safety culture, drive continuous improvement, and role model organizational behaviors and mindsets.
After you submit your application, you will receive an email providing a link to an online assessment that is a mandatory part of the process and has a validity period. The email will come from Shell (HireVue) - please check your spam/junk mailbox if you do not see the email. Once completed, your application will be reviewed to determine next steps. Thank you for your interest in Shell.
