Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Bridge Engineer (Intermediate–Senior level) to join our Bridges and Tunnels team in Ottawa. You will support the delivery of bridge and structural rehabilitation and design projects in the National Capital Area and Eastern Canada, with opportunities to collaborate with other Parsons offices across Canada and the US.
You will use your bridge engineering and construction knowledge to manage and deliver multidisciplinary inspection, analysis, rehabilitation, and design assignments, from planning through detailed design and into construction.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Produce, supervise, and manage engineering deliverables for small to large bridge rehabilitation and new design projects from concept through construction, meeting client quality requirements.
- Work independently and within multidisciplinary teams to define problems, establish scopes, prepare budgets and schedules, plan work, and provide technical direction and oversight.
- Perform and review complex engineering tasks, including calculations, analysis models, drawings, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, technical reports, design memoranda, procurement documents, and complete design packages.
- Provide technical services during construction, including review of contractor submissions and responses to site queries.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines and departments; build and maintain effective client relationships.
- Plan and lead inspections of existing bridges and structures, including coordinating inspection teams and sub-consultants, developing renewal/repair recommendations, and completing life-cycle cost analyses.
- Lead or support project pursuits, including budget estimates, staffing plans, and technical content for proposals.
- Undertake project management duties appropriate to experience, including team assembly and leadership, budget and schedule control, quality control, client management, and financial reporting.
- Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designers/Drafters, Designers, and junior Engineers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations; work to tight schedules while maintaining quality.
- Travel locally within the National Capital Region for site inspections and client meetings.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution Engineering (or related field)
- Minimum 5 years of recent, progressive bridge engineering design experience, including inspection, analysis, load-rating, design, and construction.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, or eligible for registration.
- Practical working knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6), MTO Structural Rehabilitation Manual, Structural Manual, and relevant MTO design policies, standards, and specifications.
- Strong technical knowledge of bridge engineering design and analysis principles; proficiency in 3D modelling and analysis software.
- Excellent technical report writing skills; strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative abilities.
- Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Seismic analysis and design experience is an asset.
- Masters' Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Salary Range: $32.64 - $56.68
