Eligibility Requirements:
Junior, Senior or recent graduate at an accredited college or university
Located in the state of Iowa
Available to work 15-20 hours per week, September 7, 2026 - May 22, 2027
Ability to spend at least 1 day a week on site in our DSM office
Access to your own housing and transportation to/from the DSM office
About the Team:
The Brand Licensing team leads strategy and business management for the licensed Better Homes & Gardens collection sold exclusively at Walmart. This cross-functional team works closely with Walmart merchants and brand partners, product development partners, and internal People Inc. stakeholders to support the growth, execution, and long-term strategy of the BHG x Walmart product portfolio across multiple home categories including decor, furniture, outdoor living, and more.
The Business Management function supports the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the BHG x Walmart collection through business analysis, product lifecycle tracking, and coordination across internal and external partners. This role will work directly within this function, supporting ongoing business priorities tied specifically to the BHG x Walmart collaboration.
About the Role:
As a Brand Licensing Apprentice supporting the BHG x Walmart Business Management team, you will gain hands-on experience in retail brand licensing and business operations within a large-scale national retail partnership.
This role will assist in supporting business prioritization, strategic planning, and day-to-day operations of the BHG x Walmart collection. Responsibilities will include helping maintain product and business tracking tools, supporting retail sales analysis and reporting needs, and assisting with a variety of project-based and ad-hoc requests that help keep the business organized and moving forward.
This position is designed to provide exposure to how a licensed retail brand operates within a major retail environment while supporting the Business Management team across evolving business needs and priorities.
Apprentice Responsibilities will Include:
Support the Business Management team in maintaining and updating key business trackers, product assortment logs, and internal planning tools related to the BHG x Walmart collection
Assist with business analysis and reporting by compiling sales, assortment, and competitive insights to help inform team priorities and ongoing strategy discussions
Help manage and organize product lifecycle records, launch timelines, and internal documentation across multiple home product categories
Provide project-based support across evolving business needs, including preparing materials for meetings, organizing presentations, assisting with research needs and special projects
Partner with the Business Management team to ensure internal resources, shared documents, and reporting tools remain accurate, organized, and up to date
About You:
Candidates for this role should have:
Interest in retail merchandising, brand licensing, business strategy within a consumer products or retail environment
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Open to new challenges and excited to grow within a fast-paced, expanding, and constantly evolving organization
Creative and driven self-starter that can take direction and run with it, asking questions up front to ensure you’re able to complete the task successfully
Motivated problem solver who will proactively troubleshoot and create solution
Experience with Google & Microsoft Suites
