This position is for a leader who loves to push new ideas, is passionate about design, and gets excited about managing conceptual design solutions for diverse projects with extremely talented creatives. What You Will Do
The Brand Design Director will be responsible for building client relationships and leading fast-paced interdisciplinary teams of architects, interior designers, graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, and more to deliver projects ranging from strategic planning to corporate and retail interiors. The Brand Design Director will demonstrate exceptional vision, oversee projects from conception to completion, and ensure successful project outcomes. The Brand Design Director will deliver creative solutions in a diverse range of markets including aviation, education, entertainment, hospitality, retail, sports, and workplace.

Proactively generate new opportunities with both existing and new clients through a strategic and creative approach to building business
Lead and effectively communicate the Conceptual Design process on RFP responses
Proposals - Assist Design Managers in developing workplans to determine time and effort needed to accomplish required design tasks
Thought Leadership
Lead the thought process in creating and developing design concepts
Formulate design presentation strategies with an awareness and understanding of trends in consumer engagement
Inspire creative design thinking among team members
Project Responsibilities
Provide design oversight and stewardship on all projects within the Brand Studio
Act as the primary “Design Point of Contact” with clients regarding conceptual design, schematic design, design development through implementation
Operational Stewardship
Participate in the professional development of studio staff and mentor Brand Designers
Your Qualifications
20+ years of professional experience including a recent track record of leading the design direction in brand strategy, print design, and environmental Graphics with a professional degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
Proven track record of success in building, nurturing, and growing client relationships
Ability to be client facing and generate new business
Exceptional design sense with the ability to provide clear, critical design reviews to project teams
Strong, persuasive communicator with excellent verbal presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex design concepts to clients
Experience creating and developing overall design concepts along with formulating design presentation strategies with an understanding of trends in consumer engagement
High emotional intelligence and ability to navigate difficult situations
Engaging design leadership and mentoring skills. Desire to develop, motivate, and mentor young design professionals.
Knowledge of the total project process including fee and team management, schedules and budgets.
Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients and with additional key constituents
**The base salary range will be estimated between $130,000 - $150,000. Gensler’s total compensation package is multi-layered and includes a base salary, two annual bonuses paid in December and June.
