The Bookstore Textbook Specialist supports the textbook adoption process, orders general merchandise and course materials, completes receiving and returns, department requests, stocks merchandise, prepares purchase orders, invoices, and credit memos for the accounting office, assumes online order process in absence of the Web Coordinator, and supports this work as necessary during peak periods. This role assists with Inclusive Access and other affordability initiatives. The Textbook Specialist provides exceptional
customer service to assist students, employees, and guests of the college, acts as a team lead, and serves as a mentor to student employees. This position supports the Retail Supervisor with the opening and/or closing operation of the bookstore as necessary.
Retail Support & Inventory
- Supports textbook adoptions, ordering, returns, buybacks, special orders. Participates in store inventory and cycle counts. Supports the fulfillment of online orders at peak periods or as necessary. Supports efforts to manage and sell old edition books and dead stock to industry wholesale companies. Assures the Bookstore is adequately stocked with the required course materials, general merchandise, and shelves are labeled accurately each semester.
- Works closely with Bookstore leadership team to identify and communicate sales floor needs and opportunities. Takes initiative to remedy any issues within store guidelines. Maintains working knowledge of Bookstore practices. Uses knowledge base to make reasonable judgment calls on the sales floor on a situational basis.

- The Textbook Specialist provides exceptional customer service to assist students, employees, and guests of the college, acts as a team lead, and serves as a mentor to student employees. This position supports the Retail Supervisor with the opening and/or closing operation of the bookstore as necessary.
- Provides cross functional support with a variety of Bookstore projects or in other areas of the Bookstore, including graduation, new student orientation, author signings and more. Contributes to a positive team environment by supporting the goals of the Bookstore. Trains employees as requested by leadership.
Customer Service & Clerical
- Provides customer service support and effectively responds to inquiries. Assists with the coordination of returns, buyback and other textbook processes. Processes customer special order requests and assists with other work-related projects. Supports College Credit Plus processes including account and voucher creation, purchasing course materials and required supplies, distribution of course materials to partner schools, and processes buyback requests. Communicates with faculty and other departments to resolve issues, as needed.
- Maintains an accurate spreadsheet to track all returns and credits issued by the publishers and monitors to assure credits are received in a timely manner. Assists the Textbook Supervisor with Inclusive Access and other affordability initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Two (2) years of customer service or retail experience.
- Preferred Associate’s Degree.
