Position Purpose:
Works as part of a team to complete accurate insurance billing and bookkeeping functions vital to the management of the MercyOne North Iowa Outpatient Pharmacies.
What you will do:
Greets and assists patients/customers in person and on the phone in a professional and confidential manner
Communicates effectively with colleagues and customers alike, being a good listener and adjusting style as needed
Represents Mercy Family Pharmacies in a courteous, friendly, and caring manner
Performs duties with flexibility, adapting to changing schedules and needs of the customers, prioritizing workload accordingly
Contacts 3rd party payers or physician offices as appropriate to resolve third party prescription payment issues (including prior authorization, step therapy, processing questions etc.)
Operates pharmacy dispensing and POS technology as needed to complete required job functions.
Completes daily, weekly, monthly and yearly financial/banking/accounts receivable duties. (Including bank deposits, account reconciliation, monthly statements, financial reporting etc.)
Produces financial reports for management and the finance department monthly and as needed
Generates and mails statements to customers monthly
Seeks to keep accounts current—writing letters and calling past due accounts when necessary
Completes timely and accurate billing of claims, including LTC, Hospice, Work Comp, Retail, Medicare, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required
National Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred
Accounting, finance, or business degree/education preferred
Experience:
Retail or Long-Term Care Pharmacy Technician experience is preferred
Retail or Long-Term Care billing experience is preferred
Background in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping is preferred
Special Skills and Competencies:
Strong customer service skills
Proficient in mathematical and bookkeeping skills
Must be detail oriented
