Body Shop Painter
First Student is North America’s largest provider of school bus transportation, moving millions of students every day. Our Newmarket location is currently seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Body Shop Painter to join our fleet maintenance team.
This role is essential to ensuring our buses remain safe, clean, and in top condition by performing high‑quality paint and body repair work.
Key Responsibilities
Paint & Body Repair
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and priming
- Mix, match, and apply automotive paint using spray guns and related equipment
- Perform body repair work such as filling, sanding, minor dent repair, and finishing
- Inspect completed work to ensure high-quality results and durability
Fleet Maintenance Support
- Assist with cosmetic repairs, corrosion prevention, and refinishing
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and repair times
- Follow established safety procedures, PPE requirements, and shop protocols
- Collaborate with mechanics, technicians, and shop leadership to prioritize work
Shop & Equipment Care
- Clean and maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas
- Ensure compliance with environmental and waste-handling regulations
- Identify parts, materials, or supplies needed for body repair and paint work
Qualifications
- Experience as an automotive or heavy‑duty painter, refinisher, or body repair technician
- Knowledge of painting techniques, surface prep, and refinishing materials
- Ability to match and blend paint colors accurately
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
