What you will do

As a BMS Engineer you will be responsible for shaping the future direction of our clients BMS systems and become the link between the projects team and the service delivery model. Working alongside the customer, account manager, service and project teams the Senior Engineer will proactively identify risks and opportunities for the client, helping to shape energy strategies, developing roadmaps for future proofing systems and providing high level technical support to the project and service teams.

From a static state commission, the controls system and designated plant interfaces bringing the control system and plant to full operation such that it performs according to the project specification and designs.

How you will do it

  • Review project specification and designs and identify any commission or software ability issues with the project manager
  • Validates assumptions made during solution design. Builds a detailed cost estimate and scope of work for assigned projects in conjunction with Operations. Assists in preparing proposals and other customer communication documents.
  • Work to the projects software and commissioning requirements and agree /report any need to deviate from the existing design. Co-operate / coordinate with the M&E / end user.
  • Report delays to the works to the project manager in the form of weekly reports or as requested by the PM.
  • Present a positive attitude with the objective of improving customer satisfaction in all areas. Whilst ensuring the commercial objectives of the contract are met.
  • Liaise closely with the manager to highlight any operational problems during the course of the work.
  • Use safe systems of working and pay particular attention to the Electricity at Work Regulations, Health and Safety Regulations and site H&S requirements.
  • Ensure that particular emphasis is placed on performing factory acceptance tests/checks and commissioning test and commissioning handover sheets. Produce comprehensive signed copies of systems handover documentation for the Operating and Maintenance manuals. Check installation sub-contractor electrical test sheets and sign offs are in place prior to commissioning.
  • Keep current accurate records of commissioning progress
  • Maintains relevant professional certifications and licenses (e.g., Professional Engineering license
  • Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per the intent of the project requirements.
  • Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
  • Select materials for assigned projects.
  • Load and commission system and network-level controllers as required.
  • Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • Manages and completes the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required. Validates complete system function and resolves issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation

What we look for

  • Bachelor level pass grade and/or electrical/electronic qualifications
  • An apprenticeship in an electrical / electronic trade or 5 years in the industry with control system commissioning experience
  • Previous experience in creating/updating graphics and setting workstations and networks into operation is desirable though training will be given.
  • Experienced in configuring controllers and actuators on AHU’s and terminal units.
  • HVAC knowledge/experience.
  • Experienced in fault finding in electrical starter /controls circuits and the setting into operation of starters and associated rotating plant.
  • Experienced in the operation and setting into operation of variable speed drives.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Industry standard H&S certification (Safe Pass equivalent)
  • BMS Industry standards protocols
