The Position

As a Biospecimen Specialist in our Research & Development team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of biological materials—from acquisition and data management to biorepository operations. You will ensure all activities comply with local regulatory requirements, Good Clinical Practices (GCP), and GxP standards to support our mission of diagnostic innovation.

The Opportunity

In this role you are:

  • Being responsible and accountable for end-to-end sample acquisition, data management, and biorepository management activities to fulfill customer specimen requests.
  • Working effectively with global and local team members and stakeholders, including external suppliers and internal departments such as Procurement, Legal, SHE, Quality, and Imports/Exports, to meet project deliverables.
  • Maintaining compliance with BAM processes by collecting and maintaining relevant documentation, reviewing sample data, and ensuring accurate and complete datasets.
  • Performing material processing, registration, shipment, and physical inventory searches within a validated environment, as well as managing inventory for lab consumables.
  • Serving as the end-user expert for facility changes that impact biorepository activities and executing data transfers, quality checks, and entries in a validated Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Utilizing ImageFlow for lab image transfers, managing scanning reservations within shared equipment spaces, and authoring new SOPs and guidance documents using approved document management tools.
  • Representing the team at Global BAM Biorepository meetings and weekly Bank Staff meetings.
  • Conducting daily stand-up meetings with the biorepository personnel. 

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a biological discipline or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience handling biological specimens and willingness to work with potentially infectious materials.
  • Experience in biospecimen acquisition, biobanking, clinical trial management, interfacing with stakeholders, and/or project management is preferable

Behaviors, competencies, and qualities of the ideal applicant.

  • Prior experience with LIMS or other validated data systems.
  • Knowledge of GLP/GCP requirements and ethical considerations for human biological samples.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders, and work in a cold environment with limited daylight. Ability to climb a platform ladder and reach above head.

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of Tucson is 57,100.00 - 106,000.00 USD Annually.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
