Join the Process Chemistry & Catalysis department, a crucial part of the Synthetic Molecules Technical Development (PTDC) organization within Pharma Global Technical Operations (PT). You'll be instrumental in developing robust and cost-effective Drug Substance processes for our small molecules, peptides, and oligonucleotides pipeline from clinical entry to commercial manufacturing.
Lead Biocatalytic Innovation: Be the expert to identify, create, and design novel enzymes/enzymatic processes, enabling the efficient synthesis of our portfolio molecules for clinical and commercial supply.
Design High-Quality Enzyme Libraries: Drive the quality and diversity of our enzyme libraries, overseeing the design of ready-to-screen enzyme plates to accelerate process development.
Apply Computational Chemistry Expertise: Utilize structure-based computational chemistry to predict key amino acid positions for enzyme engineering, optimizing activity, selectivity, and stability under various process conditions.
Develop Advanced Computational Models: Create reaction-specific enzyme libraries using cutting-edge protein structure and experimental data, advanced modeling, and simulation techniques.
Maintain State-of-the-Art Infrastructure: Ensure the stability and functionality of our state-of-the-art software infrastructure essential for all required molecular modeling and simulation tasks.
Leverage Data Science for Prediction: Implement data analysis and Machine Learning/AI methods to enable accurate enzyme activity prediction based on existing experimental data.
Drive Process Development and Screening: Act as a core member of project teams, managing the screening, efficient data processing, hit identification, and verification to develop enzyme-catalyzed processes suitable for high-quality manufacturing.
Serve as Data Analytics Specialist: Provide first-level support for data gathering, mining, analysis, and visualizations (Spotfire experience is a plus) for the entire catalysis group, fostering a data-driven environment.
You are a highly skilled scientist ready to apply your deep expertise in bioinformatics and molecular modeling to real-world drug development challenges within a dynamic, interdisciplinary team.
You hold a PhD in synthetic chemistry, bioinformatics, biocatalysis, or molecular biology, demonstrated by a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and/or patents.
You are an expert in bioinformatics, specifically applying phylogenetic analysis of protein families to accurately infer distant homologs and orthologues.
You possess in-depth expertise in sequence modeling, de novo prediction, visualization, and analysis of protein structures, small molecule docking, and molecular dynamics simulations of protein-ligand complexes.
You have profound practical knowledge in data gathering, mining, analyzing, and visualization tools, including Spotfire, and experience with common databases such as SQL and/or MongoDB.
You are experienced in applying Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence tools and concepts, ideally extending beyond enzyme catalysis, to solve complex biological problems.
You bring desired experience in industrial biocatalysis or bioinformatics, preferably with hands-on experience in biotransformations (mg to multi-g scale) and knowledge of enzyme engineering techniques.
You are an excellent team player with strong coordination and communication skills, demonstrating proficiency in both English and German.
