A Glimpse of the Job
The BIM Building Modeling Coordinator utilizes 3D Point Cloud Laser scanning technology to verify University space, update existing floorplans, and ensure the accuracy for all research, academic, administrative, and auxiliary spaces. This position performs analysis and creates reports on this data, most commonly resulting in annotated or thematically color-coded floor plans or area take-offs. The BIM Building Modeling Coordinator produces media for presentation and analysis in support of planning and infrastructure management efforts. Additionally, the Coordinator maintains and improves existing data in the CAFM systems (Archibus).
Essential Duties/Tasks:
Update and Maintenance of Building BIM Record Files
Maintain all existing Building BIM files.
Edit room data, annotations, tags, building area data, and work with schedules within existing models.
Maintain master templates for BIM standards for TAMU use.
Coordinates the use of cloud and network resources for BIM file usage, sharing, and collaboration.
Floor Plan Inventory
Maintains floor plan inventory.
Utilizes 3D Point Cloud Laser scanning technology and CAD software to verify University space, update existing floorplans, and ensure the accuracy for all research, academic, administrative, and auxiliary spaces.
Updates and annotates existing 3D Building Models using Building Scanning data.
Maintains stacking and blocking plans, space plans.
Maintains a secure set of floor plans in PDF format.
Performance of this duty may require the use of University vehicle to travel to various locations throughout the university.
Data Management and Analysis
Coordinates data collection and ensure consistency in the integration of new data into existing databases with connections into CAFM software.
Assists in managing facilities inventory database including room ownership, size, and use.
Reports and Presentations
Performs analysis and creates reports on collected data, most commonly resulting in annotated or thematically color-coded floor plans or area take-offs.
Produces media for presentation and analysis in support of planning and infrastructure management efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering Design Graphics, Engineering Technology, or applicable field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Knowledge of CAFM software such as Archibus.
Prior CAD/CAFM experience, specifically with Revit-to-Archibus space cataloging.
Scan-to-BIM and/or 3D Point Cloud experience.
Knowledge of THECB guidelines for space inventory and reporting.
Experience with cloud and network resources for BIM file usage, sharing, and collaboration (such as BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud).
Familiarity with maintaining organized model libraries and supporting lifecycle-based model management in ACC or BIM 360.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
BIM (Revit) proficiency, including prior hands-on experience working in Revit.
Ability to work independently within existing models, including editing room data, annotations, tags, building area data, and working with schedules and established project templates.
Ability to take ownership of assigned model tasks within large, multi-disciplinary Revit models.
Ability to review vendor-provided Revit models and verify space information for accuracy and consistency.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, graphics software, and the Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft 365 and TEAMS).
Intermediate skills with project management software and knowledge of project databases.
Knowledge and understanding of architectural/engineering drawings and construction documentation.
Ability to effectively communicate with all departmental groups and levels of management.
Strong interpersonal skills and technical writing proficiency.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively in a collaborative team environment.
