MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE BUSINESS:

As an experienced Bid Writer in the Healthcare sector of our Digital Services business, you will

create compliant, submission-grade content for bid responses, ensuring the high quality of our

proposals to win new business. As a pivotal part of our pre-sales function, you will collaborate

closely with sales leads and bid teams to understand our clients real requirements, develop our

win themes, author high-scoring responses, and guide the team to a high quality, end-to-end

proposal.

You will join our pre-sales team as part of our sales community, where you will bring your

analytical and authoring skills, together with a strong interest to further develop your industry

knowledge. You will be joining a passionate and growing Healthcare sector team intent on

transforming the industry through data, technology and responsible innovation, to help people

live longer, healthier lives and unlock new clinical breakthroughs.

Based at home but required to travel to Kainos London and other locations whenever

appropriate.

You will be responsible for:

Understanding bid requirements, creating storyboards and producing response plans

Ensuring compliance with bid requirements - ensuring adherence to the client’s formal

procurement requirements and internal Kainos bidding processes, including completion

of appropriate review processes.

Applying win themes and following bid strategy – leveraging Kainos and our partner

strengths, and understanding business and market intelligence in order to develop bid-

specific win themes.

Fully answering questions – by writing, editing and reviewing submission responses

drawing on contributions and collateral.

Engaging with SMEs for content - through interviewing and knowledge elicitation

sessions

Drafting content and editing

Tracking and reporting progress - planning and managing all aspects of a coherent,

high quality response including alignment with the Bid Manager to co-ordinate bid

team inputs, timeline and review activities.

Contributing to bid productivity improvements – owning and driving bid production

continuous improvement process initiatives, including AI tooling adoption, and cross

sector collaboration.

Upskilling people - training staff new to bid responses in best practice approaches, as

well as educating and sharing knowledge with sales/account teams and customers in

relation to bid production.

MINIMUM (ESSENTIAL) REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant

commercial environment with IT bidding experience and a sound awareness of current

technology and business trends and their potential impact on sales opportunities.

Some familiarity with the technical detail relating to the delivery of modern digital

services (including bespoke software delivery, agile methodologies etc).

Experience in bid writing of customer proposals of significant scale

Strong awareness and understanding as to what constitutes submission grade content.

Highly capable of multi-tasking and prioritising tasks with the ability to work under

pressure and deliver to tight deadlines.

We all work in teams here in Kainos – a proven ability to motivate team members and

lead by example is crucial

We are passionate about developing people – a demonstrated ability in mentoring

and coaching colleagues and contributing to the wider community is important

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate

complex proposals in a way that is succinct and easy to understand.

Strong critical thinking skills to interpret and disaggregate often complex compound

client bid questions to form clear, well-structured responses.

A self-starter who is highly motivated and proactive with respect to personal

development

A person who is affable, credible and enthusiastic who pride themselves on delivering

high quality work.

DESIRABLE:

Understanding of IT procurement frameworks used in the UK Healthcare and Public

Sector, such as Digital Capability for Health 2, Digital Outcomes and Specialists, and G-

Cloud.

Hands-on experience of having delivered digital services using Agile and user centred

design methods

Familiarity with the UK Healthcare delivery landscape, including the organisational

structure of the NHS and related healthcare bodies.

Understanding of how Generative AI tooling can improve the efficiency of bid

production without compromising the accuracy or integrity of responses.
