AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support.  Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.

AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its No. 1 Helicopter Flying School (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).

Description/Overall purpose of the Job

The Bid Manager and Commercial Officer will provide key support to the Senior Commercial Operations Manager on all AHUK major campaigns. In the lead up to Campaigns, they will work closely with the Commercial and Sales to formulate and execute business capture strategies. During campaigns themselves, they will be responsible for producing the bid proposal itself in line with the procurement process timelines. Campaigns will be aimed at both the civil and defence markets, across the full extent of the Airbus Helicopters existing and future product range.

Sitting inside the AHUK Sales and Commercial Business, this is a diverse and key role for driving AHUK’s business-capture plans, and significantly underpins its ambitious growth strategies.

When campaigns are inactive, the Bid Manager and Commercial Officer will assist the Commercial Team with contract execution, back-office duties, including the improvement of tools, methods, and processes.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Help devising and execute a successful strategy for winning bids, including identifying differentiators, and understanding customer requirements.

  • Create and maintain the bid schedule around campaign procurement timelines and Airbus Offer Processes.

  • Organise and facilitate cross-functional meetings and reviews throughout the campaign life-cycle.

  • Researching, writing, assembling, and checking proposal contributions from internal staff in the UK and France or Germany, and from key suppliers to ensure the overall proposal is submitted on time.

  • Supporting proposal activity including document control and formatting and general support to the campaign.

  • Contribute to and maintain the re-use library, regularly refreshing existing material to ensure relevance.

  • Implement the results of lesson learned activity to drive continuous improvement of processes and tools.

  • Support and lead the finance team in building the bid business case.

  • Ensure bid data and information are organised and stored appropriately in the directory in accordance with relevant rules

  • Ensure information is shared fully across the relevant stakeholders

  • Assess technical and commercial risk of the bid.

  • Where bids are successful, assist with the project launch process and handover to the delivery team.

Additional requirements

  • Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must be able to obtain DBS and undergo Security Clearance.
