The University of Miami IT Department has an opportunity for a full-time BI Report Developer 1.

                                                                                                                             

The BI Developer 1 designs and develops dashboards and prepares reports sourced from various production systems. This position collaborates with business stakeholders and leaders, and subject matter experts to design, develop, and support business intelligence information for the University of Miami.

Core Responsibilities:                                                                                                        

  • Designs, develops, and maintains business intelligence reports and dashboards.
  • Creates and configures metadata objects. Develops a strong understanding of user reporting needs and makes recommendations on how reports can be developed using BI tools.
  • Works with ETL developers to determine report design strategies. Works with application analysts to identify and understand source data systems.
  • Analyzes possible reporting alternatives in relationship to business need, costs, effectiveness, and information availability requirements.
  • Works on security setup and maintenance, tool administration, and data modeling.
  • Develops or assists in the creation of project time estimates.
  • Develops and implements application documentation and training materials.
  • Provides post implementation support of user questions and fine tuning of processes.
  • Maintains communication with management and users during development or maintenance cycle.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions:

  • Develops and maintains audit and monitoring reports as well as critical reporting as requested by users.
  • Assists in the management and monitoring of projects assignment and tasks estimation hours.
  • Design, Develop and deploy database objects, SQL scripts and SSAS tabular models based on project requirements.
  • Works with ETL developers to determine report design strategies.
  • Works on security setup and maintenance, tool administration, and data modeling.
  • Conduct troubleshooting analysis of report writers SQLs scripts and trouble shoot data system problems

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:                                                                                                         

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Reporting Tools
  • Exceptional presentation and analytical skills
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Works effectively as part of a team or independently
