Main Purpose:
The main purpose of this role is to act as the primary link between business stakeholders and the Data & Analytics team, ensuring that reporting and analytics requirements are clearly defined, prioritized, and translated into high-quality BI solutions.
In a greenfield environment and during the transition from legacy reporting tools to Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, the BI Analyst will work closely with Finance, Operations, and other business functions to understand business processes, define KPIs, and support the delivery of consistent, trusted reporting. The role plays a key part in shaping the BI roadmap, managing the BI backlog, validating requirements, and supporting adoption, while ensuring alignment with data governance standards and the overall BI delivery model.

Business Requirements & BI Analysis
- Gather, analyse, and document BI and reporting requirements from business stakeholders.
- Define and validate KPIs, metrics, and business rules in collaboration with Finance and operational teams.
- Map existing legacy reports to future BI use cases and data models.
BI Delivery & Collaboration
- Act as a core member of the BI Delivery squad, participating in sprint planning, refinement, demos and retrospectives.
- Translate business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
- Own and manage the BI demand backlog, supporting prioritization in alignment with business value.
Reporting & Validation
- Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards, ensuring usability and business relevance.
- Build and maintain semantic models, including measures (DAX), relationships, and data structures.
- Perform functional testing and validation to ensure accuracy, usability, and business alignment.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and support rollout and adoption.
Data Governance & Adoption
- Support data governance initiatives by documenting KPIs, definitions, and reporting standards.
- Promote consistent use of certified datasets and semantic models.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Power BI, including report development, DAX, and data visualization best practices, with Power BI certifications (e.g., PL-300) considered a plus.
- Understanding of semantic models, data modelling concepts, and BI best practices (star schema, fact/dimension).
- Ability to define and validate KPIs, metrics, and business rules.
- Experience working with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric or modern cloud data platforms.
