Job Description:

Winchester Hospital is a 5x Magnet designated, Top Massachusetts recognized 226-bed regional hospital that is the leading provider of comprehensive health care services in the northwest suburban Boston area. 

Contributing to the Hospital's mission involves addressing the needs of behavioral health patients. This role entails performing various direct and indirect patient care duties in collaboration with ED Clinical staff, ensuring effective teamwork to enhance the delivery of quality patient care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a solid understanding of hospital policies, protocols, and procedures.

  • Recognizing signs and symptoms of psychiatric diagnoses, including drug and alcohol withdrawal, and applying appropriate therapeutic interventions to prevent patient escalation.

  • Monitoring patient safety and promoting a positive, age-appropriate therapeutic and educational atmosphere.

  • Utilizing approved de-escalation techniques and interventions.

  • Responding to patient care needs, assisting with personal hygiene, and supporting daily living activities.

  • Collaborating with nursing staff to address patient nursing needs.

  • Assisting in the transfer process for patients entering and leaving the ED, ensuring safety and monitoring patient belongings.

  • Acting as a role model for other staff members.

  • Demonstrating knowledge of and respect for patient rights and privacy issues.

  • Promoting professional relationships among ED staff, psychiatric clinicians, and patient collaterals.

  • Functioning in the ED Tech role as needed for patient care.

Qualifications:

Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Degree in psychology or related field preferred with theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the clinical area.

Experience Preferred:   Previous related experience.  Knowledge of the care of the Behavioral Health Patient/Family unit.

 

 

Pay Range:

$21.00 - $28.26

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
