The position of Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist calls for a licensed professional clinician with direct experience and skill in treating a range of behavioral health and substance use needs.  The position requires an individual who is able to treat and be successful at assessing and treating co-occurring disorders including mental illness, personality disorders, and challenges in primary or secondary support systems.  The position of Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist includes active engagement and coordination of care with internal resources including psychiatry and community support as well as external bodies including the legal system, families, and social support agencies.  The position may call for back-up to the team lead and/or other therapists as needed.  The position requires the individual to be an active and positive member of the clinical team.  Based on setting, special skills and/or work with specific populations will be required.   Relies on knowledge, experience, and judgment to provide quality services with very little supervision and direction. Must be an individual that holds a license issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession.  

Pay: $55,000-$65,000 depending on experience and licensure; phone stipend or use of company phone

Schedule: Flexible; 40 hour week; rotating on call required

Location: Caldwell and Burke Counties

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as part of the interdisciplinary team (CST) to best help service users, including behavioral health specialists, registered nurses, quality assurance specialists, paraprofessionals and the Clinical Director.
  • Running individual, family therapy sessions.
  • Developing person-centered plans with individuals
  • Completion of comprehensive clinical assessments
  • Oversee the discharge planning process
  • Facilitating relationships between RHA, service user families/legal guardians and various social service community resources, such as food stamp and housing assistance, healthcare, job training and placement and substance abuse support groups​
  • Excellent communicator and listener with strong therapeutic skills who works well as part of an interdisciplinary team and runs open and productive therapy sessions.
  • Excel at behavioral interviewing techniques to uncover service user needs and be able to anticipate these needs.
  • Assessing substance use needs and developing relapse preventions
  • Linkage and referral to treatment to include detox and long term residential treatment
  • Knowledge of community resources that may impact social determinants of health
  • Travel amongst several counties to provide home visits and coordination of care to ensure social determinant of health needs are met.
  • On call rotation required- currently every 8-12 weeks depending on staffing patterns

Job Requirements:
  • Valid licensure to provide mental/behavioral healthcare in the state of North Carolina

  • License include: LCAS, LCAS-A, CADC in North Carolina *Clinical supervision is provided.  

  • Minimum 2 years experience working with individuals with mental and/or behavioral health issues

  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation

  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
