A Day in the Life
We are hiring for a Battalion Chief. This is a supervisory position and will be expected to find coverage or cover deficits in scheduling as needs arise; however, the projected work schedule is below:
The compensation range for this role is $30 to $33/hr., commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
The Battalion Chief position reports directly to Occupational Health and CVR Safety.
To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
First Aid Responder on-boarding, mentoring and annual performance reviews
Staff scheduling, 6-week projection
First Aid Responder new hire and annual training
Timely and compliant staff training records
Planning and implementation of clinical programs
Staff medical documentation and protocol compliance reviews
Manage day-to-day operations including staffing shortfalls, supply and inventory management, equipment maintenance and oversite
Monthly performance statistics reporting
Weekly call with Occupational Health PO
The Battalion Chief must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills as leader of the Industrial First Aid Responder Team. He or she will function as a liaison and work collaboratively with Occupational Health, Industrial First Aid Responders, the CVR Emergency Response Team and CVR Safety. The selected candidate will develop and maintain relationships with local response agencies including Coffeyville Fire, and CRMC EMS.
Your Expertise and Skills
These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here:
The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the pre-hospital, hospital, or industrial health setting
Valid EMTP or equivalent credentials, and certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
The qualified applicant has mass casualty training and experience as well as broad knowledge surrounding emergency response operations, hazardous chemicals, chemical exposure, and industrial first aid.
The Battalion Chief must lead by example maintaining and updating all pre-hire and annual training as well as ensuring his/her team training is compliant and accurate records are kept. Training includes instruction and knowledge demonstration of:
Site specific safety protocols
Emergency response protocols
First Aid protocols
Mass casualty response protocols
Hazardous chemicals commonly found in refineries including but not limited to
- Benzene, Sulfur Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Methanol, Toluene, Hydrofluoric acid (HF), Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), Sulfuric Acid, Ammonia, and Caustics
