A Bar Manager supervises all aspects of a bar's operations, ensuring profitability, high member satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. This role blends administrative, leadership, and hands-on operational responsibilities, requiring a versatile individual who can manage staff, inventory, and member relations in a fast-paced setting.
What you will do?
- Staff Management:
- Recruiting, hiring, training, and motivating bartenders, servers, and other bar staff.
- Creating and managing employee schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours.
- Leading by example and fostering a positive and safe work environment.
- Addressing performance issues, resolving conflicts, and, when necessary, disciplining or terminating staff.
- Operations and Customer Service:
- Overseeing daily bar operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Ensuring high-quality beverages and service are consistently provided to customers.
- Handling customer complaints and resolving issues to ensure a positive guest experience.
- Maintaining the bar's atmosphere and appearance, from music and lighting to cleanliness and organization.
- Financial and Inventory Management:
- Managing inventory levels, placing orders, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure adequate stock.
- Tracking daily sales, monitoring costs, and managing the budget to ensure profitability.
- Handling cash management and daily financial reconciliation.
- Implementing strategies, such as promotional events or new menu items, to drive sales.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensuring compliance with local and state liquor laws, health, and safety regulations.
- Maintaining all necessary licenses and certifications.
- Managing security situations and, if necessary, ejecting unruly patrons to create a safe environment.
What are we looking for?
- Progressive Experience: Experience of at least 5 years.Started as a Bartender or Waiter, progressing to supervisory or shift management roles, before taking on complete management.
- Operational Management: Experience of at least two years. In-depth knowledge of stock, inventory, ordering, and supplier management.
- Team Leadership: Experience of at least two years. Ability to motivate, train, and manage a bar team, delegating tasks and resolving conflicts.
- Financial Skills: Cash control, sales analysis, and profitability.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of mixology, wines, spirits, and current beverage trends.
- Financial skills, including budgeting and inventory management.
- Proficiency with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and inventory software.
- Relevant experience in the hospitality industry, often with previous supervisory or bartending roles.
