Why this role matters

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer, Golang to join the core team developing a new corporate social-media-style portal that will serve as the central communication and engagement hub for employees. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a scalable backend platform based on Go microservices and event-driven architecture.

This role involves end-to-end ownership of backend services — from architecture and implementation to performance, reliability, and production operations. You will collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, DevOps, and QA to ship high-quality features in an iterative and fast-paced environment.

The role is based in our Limassol office, Cyprus. In case of relocation, we offer full relocation support for you and your family to make your move smooth and worry-free.

What you'll actually do
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Go, including APIs, business logic, and data flows
  • Work with event-driven architecture (Kafka/NATS or similar) to ensure reliable communication between services
  • Contribute to the overall system architecture, service contracts, and data models
  • Build integrations with internal and third-party systems (e.g., SSO/Okta, HRIS, email/push notifications, media storage)
  • Ensure services are secure, performant, observable, and easy to operate in production
  • Work in an agile team, participate in planning, estimation, and continuous product improvement
Who we’re looking for
  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including 3+ years with Go in production
  • Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, and microservices
  • Experience with Go frameworks, tooling, and idiomatic code practices
  • Proficiency with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Familiarity with event-driven systems and message brokers (Kafka, NATS, SNS/SQS, or similar)
  • Advanced knowledge of unit and integration testing
  • Strong communication, ownership mindset, and ability to work independently

Nice to have:

  • Experience building secure, scalable, and high-availability services in the cloud (preferably AWS)
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with video or media processing at scale (storage, transcoding, streaming optimization)
  • Knowledge of authentication & authorization patterns (OAuth2, OIDC, RBAC)
  • Experience with caching and search technologies (e.g., Redis, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch)
  • Experience with observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
  • Familiarity with API design standards (gRPC, GraphQL, OpenAPI)
  • Experience with performance optimization, load testing, and resilience patterns
  • Prior experience in building social-network-like or content-centric platforms
What we offer along the way
  • Competitive salary and annual performance bonus
  • Full relocation support for you and your family — flights, housing, visas, and legal assistance included
  • Top-tier health insurance with full family coverage — medical, dental, vision, mental health — plus life insurance for peace of mind
  • Unlimited learning opportunities: external courses, English lessons, career and leadership development
  • Education allowance covering school and kindergarten fees
  • 21 working days of annual leave, plus public holidays and fully paid sick, maternity, and paternity leave
  • Employee appreciation program: branded gifts, birthday day-offs, celebration budgets for weddings, newborns, and milestones
  • “Get to know Team” trips — meet colleagues across our global hubs, along with company-wide offsites that raise the bar
  • Employee share scheme — grow with us
  • Branded MINI Cooper Countryman company car and private parking
  • Free in-house sports clubs, Sanctum Club gym access, and jet skis
  • Access to a Corporate doctor
  • Exclusive discount program with cafes, gyms, and local services
  • Expat tax perks: up to 50% income tax exemption
  • Support with the naturalisation process for relocated employees
