The role:
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Member Growth engineering team at SoFi, where we are designing for the future of personal finance. We are looking to help our Members find their path to financial independence by providing them with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to get there. We want to be part of the customers financial journey by providing them timely insights tailored to their needs, that will establish and build trust.
In this role, you will tackle complex, data-intensive problems at scale, design reliable data pipelines, datasets, and data applications, while collaborating closely with Data Science, Marketing, and other Engineering teams.
The ideal candidate is a talented, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented software engineer with experience working on big data challenges. This includes data design and analysis, data modeling, development, deployment, and operations of data pipelines.
What you’ll do:
- Design, develop, test, deploy and debug robust data solutions that can scale horizontally and vertically.
- Build and optimize operational experience for systems and processes to run efficiently.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as data scientists, software engineers, and stakeholders, to understand data requirements, influence best practices upstream and down, and deliver solutions to meet business needs.
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts and trade offs to non-technical stakeholders verbally and in well-written technical documents.
- Enforce data governance policies and practices to maintain data integrity, quality, security, and compliance.
- Participate in code reviews and design reviews, both as an author and a reviewer, applying team standards and continuously improving code quality.
- Support production operations, including participating in on-call rotations, incident response, and post-incident follow-ups with guidance from senior engineers.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of professional software engineering or data engineering experience working on production systems, with a proven track record of successfully building data pipelines and applications.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Proficiency in our tech stack; Snowflake/GitLab/AWS/Airflow/DBT etc.
- Thorough knowledge and passion around data modeling, database design, data architecture principles, and data operations.
- Clear communication skills and comfort collaborating within a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.
- Good understanding of AI and its usage
Nice to have:
- Experience in building and deploying resources using Infrastructure as Code - IaC tools (like Terraform)
- Exposure to marketing or ad technology concepts, such as attribution and conversion tracking.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
