The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) performs coordination, planning, administrative management, financial and operational duties in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and Assistant Vice President of the Critical Care Nursing Division.

The ANM is visible on the unit and provides leadership for direct patient care provided by specialty nursing unit staff. The ANM assures that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided to customers including referring facilities, hospital staff and patients in the inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings. The ANM supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs and services consistent with the hospital’s mission and departmental/unit vision and philosophy. They provide direction and support to unit-based staff and collaborates with other service and department leaders toward attainment of short- and long-term goals and objectives. The Assistant Nurse Manager is an expert in the care of patients within the unit of specialty.

Qualifications:

Education: A BSN completed or in progress is required.  Must hold current New York State Registered Nurse registration or eligible for licensure in New York State with no restrictions.

Experience: Management or leadership experience preferred.  Must have clinical expertise in working with neuro, surgical, and trauma critical care patients.  Must have at least three years of experience working with identified patient population. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for decisions.

Communication: Able to communicate effectively and professionally within the organization and with external customers and agencies.  Must create and maintain a collegial and collaborative environment among all members of the healthcare team. Articulates clear expectations with staff and members of the patient care team.  Must have ability to support, coach and mentor staff.
