The Opportunity:

Support the DoD as a System Administrator for an Army Task Order using Windows and Linux OS administration skills to support an Azure Cloud infrastructure, Cloud hybrid, standalone, non-networked operating environments. 

Hybrid schedule with onsite located at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD!


Responsibilities:

  • System Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems and associated software. Set up and manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.       

  • System Maintenance and Monitoring: Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure system stability and security aligning with weekly compliance scanning and remediation processes. Monitor system performance and availability and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance.     

  • Automation, Scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine tasks and system management processes using PowerShell, Ansible or Terraform. Use configuration management tools for automating deployments and managing infrastructure.          

  • Compliance and Security: Ensuring system stability and security while maintaining compliance with relevant standards and practices.         

  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support for Linux systems, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues. Collaborate with development and operations teams to address technical challenges.           

  • Documenting and Reporting: Document system configurations, procedures, and changes to ensure comprehensive records are maintained.          


Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Active security clearance

  • U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a System Administrator

  • DoD 8140.03 Basic Certification Required

  • Security+ CE Required

  • IAT Level II Required

  • DoD 8140 Computing Environment Certified (Cloud Environment)

  • Experience provisioning, monitoring, scaling, and optimizing cloud environments (Azure).

  • Experience administering a Microsoft Azure environment.

  • Experience working with Windows Server 2012, up to the latest version.

  • Experience working with any application server or web server utilities: Internet Information Services (IIS), Adobe ColdFusion, Apache Tomcat, .Net Core, ASP .NET, MVC Architecture, etc.

  • Experience in system administration to include managing and maintaining IT infrastructure such as servers, networks, and storage systems.

  • Good understanding of secure computing practices and security issues as they pertain to applications and servers.         

  • Experience with managing, deploying, configuring IaaS and PaaS in a cloud infrastructure          

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL Server          

  • Successful experience using ASP.NET, IIS and/or ColdFusion/Tomcat and SQL to create database connected applications.          

  • Understands HTTPS, TLS, PKI, certificates.       

  • Understanding cloud security best practices, compliance requirements, and implementing appropriate security measures to protect data and applications in the cloud.       

  • Experience in automated infrastructure provisioning, configuration management and deployment processes (Configuration as Code) using tools like PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform or similar (Desired State Configuration (DSD)).         

  • Exceptional technical troubleshooting skills (applications, services, servers, networking, etc). 

  • Excellent verbal communications skills.     

  • Understands Continuous Integration/Continuous Development      

  • Experience with Azure DevOps and/or GitLab        

  • Understands the value of commitments to delivery made by a production team.        

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in an environment with high visibility and similarly high expectations.       

  • Collaborative, customer-focused and able to create visible value.          

  • Proven ability to create documentation suitable for technicians or end users.      

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and integrate new technologies quickly.

Pay Range:

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$69,600 - 142,700 USD
