Job Overview

LPL Financial is seeking an AVP, Product Owner within the Product Management organization to lead workflow transformation across Operations, delivering scalable, compliant, and outcome-driven solutions. This role is accountable for converting high-impact operational workflows into intelligent, automation-led products, leveraging AI where it meaningfully applies to improve advisor experience, increase operational efficiency, and support safe growth in a regulated financial services environment.

The AVP, Product Owner is directly accountable for the end-to-end execution and outcomes of workflow transformation initiatives—defining strategy, prioritizing delivery, and ensuring measurable business impact. This role leads the redesign of legacy and manual processes into modern, orchestrated solutions that balance deterministic automation with AI-assisted capabilities when appropriate, always emphasizing transparency, governance, and operational resilience.

As a trusted partner to Operations, Technology, Data, and Risk leaders, this role applies an AI-informed product mindset to modernize how work gets done—owning the full lifecycle of workflow products from discovery through delivery and adoption. The AVP ensures solutions are fit-for-purpose, scalable, and adaptable over time, whether powered by rules-based automation, orchestration platforms, or AI-assisted decisioning.

In addition to serving as Product Owner for Scrum teams, this leader plays a key role in LPL’s broader digital and AI transformation, driving disciplined execution, cross-functional alignment, and sustained value realization across Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end execution and outcomes of Operations workflow transformation initiatives, from problem discovery through delivery, adoption, and value realization.

  • Lead the modernization of legacy and manual workflows into scalable, orchestrated, automation-led products, applying AI where it meaningfully improves outcomes.

  • Be accountable for delivering measurable improvements in advisor experience, cycle time, risk reduction, and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure transformed workflows are operationally resilient, compliant, and explainable, with clear controls and governance appropriate for a regulated financial services environment.

  • Reimagine high-value Operations workflows using an automation-first mindset, selectively incorporating AI-assisted capabilities where they add clear business value.

  • Partner with Engineering, Architecture, Data, and Risk & Compliance to define fit-for-purpose workflow designs, balancing deterministic automation with AI-assisted decisioning when appropriate.

  • Own a portfolio of workflow products, managing tradeoffs between near-term efficiency gains and long-term platform scalability and reuse.

  • Ensure workflows are AI-ready and data-driven where applicable, while avoiding unnecessary complexity or risk from inappropriate AI use cases.

  • Define and communicate a clear product vision and strategy for workflow transformation initiatives, aligned to Operations priorities and enterprise objectives.

  • Translate business problems into prioritized product roadmaps, features, and user stories, with clear acceptance criteria and outcome-based success measures.

  • Serve as the single accountable Product Owner for assigned Scrum teams, driving disciplined agile execution through backlog management, ceremonies, demos, and delivery readiness.

  • Actively manage dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.

  • Serve as a trusted execution partner to Operations, Technology, Data, and Risk leaders, ensuring alignment between strategy, delivery, and outcomes.

  • Drive cross-functional decision-making and progress without direct authority, using influence, data, and clarity of accountability.

  • Support executive-level governance through transparent reporting and dashboards, providing visibility into delivery progress, realized benefits, and risks.

  • Ensure solutions achieve sustained adoption, partnering with stakeholders on change management, training, and operational readiness.

  • Contribute to LPL’s broader digital and AI transformation by establishing best practices for workflow product ownership, automation strategy, and responsible AI usage.

  • Act as a role model for AI-informed product leadership, helping teams and stakeholders understand where AI should—and should not—be applied.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and outcome-driven execution across Operations and Product Management.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in product management, consulting, or program/project leadership, preferably within financial services, FinTech, or other regulated industries.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Product Owner within an agile delivery framework, with direct accountability for delivery outcomes.
