MUFG is seeking an Assistant Vice President to join their Trade Finance Middle Office team in London. What you'll do:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of term sheets, credit applications, and facility documentation from an operational perspective to ensure all transactions are workable and processed efficiently without unnecessary delays.
  • Assess client drawdown requests meticulously to confirm that each transaction aligns with the terms of approved facilities, safeguarding compliance at every stage.
  • Examine Guarantee and Standby Letter of Credit wordings for workability, negotiating terms with clients and legal teams as required to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support for all products related to ETBO for non-commodity business, while assisting CSTF for commodity-related matters when necessary.
  • Engage daily with key stakeholders including clients, relationship managers, product managers, and operational units to foster clear communication and effective collaboration.
  • Monitor and control guarantee facilities exposure on a daily basis under the current portfolio, ensuring accurate determination of facility availability for new requests or enquiries.
  • Prioritise inward communications based on subject importance with a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional client service at all times.
  • Develop familiarity with individual processes and business flows for each client, aiming to take ownership within the team once sufficient knowledge has been acquired.
  • Deliver technical and operational assistance to all stakeholders including clients, Relationship Managers, branches, and operational units throughout EMEA.
  • Reconcile balances between the Bank’s accounting system and exposure management tools for all allocated or monitored limits to maintain precise records.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated substantial experience in an operational role within trade finance or guarantee-related product environments is essential for success in this position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel is required to manage documentation efficiently and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • A solid understanding of up-to-date market standards relevant to trade finance products (including ISP98, UCP600, e-UCP, URDG) is vital for ensuring compliance and best practice.
  • Experience using Loan IQ or similar systems is highly desirable for maintaining accurate exposure records.
  • Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in core academic subjects is required; A Level (or equivalent) qualifications are preferred for this role.
  • Additional language skills—particularly French—are considered advantageous when interacting with diverse clients across EMEA.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary for building rapport with clients and collaborating effectively within teams.
  • A proactive approach combined with motivation enables you to anticipate needs and respond promptly to changing priorities.
  • The ability to operate with urgency while prioritising tasks ensures deadlines are met without compromising quality or accuracy.
  • Exceptional attention to detail supports your capacity to manage large workloads calmly even under pressure.
