Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.

Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Cash Bonus Target: 12.5%

Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Restricted Stock Units Bonus Target: 12.5%

These discretionary target bonuses may be awarded semi-annually based upon your achievement of performance goals and targets.

About This Job

The AVP of RELF Originations will play a critical role in driving new business growth for the Real Estate Lender Finance portfolio. This individual will be responsible for structuring and evaluating new deals, drafting Letters of Intent (LOIs) with new counterparties, managing the underwriting and due diligence process, coordinating legal documentation negotiations, and overseeing deals in the pipeline. The AVP will lead a team of analysts to support these functions and ensure seamless execution from origination through closing.

Responsibilities:

  • Structure and assess new lending opportunities, ensuring alignment with RELF credit and risk parameters
  • Draft LOIs for new counterparties and present recommendations to senior management for deal approval
  • Lead the underwriting and due diligence process for new transactions, including pre-screening deals, requesting and reviewing collateral and credit information, and utilizing analytical tools and industry expertise to assess risk
  • Coordinate with legal counsel and counterparties to negotiate and finalize documentation, ensuring all agreements meet internal standards and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the RELF deal pipeline, proactively ensuring timely progression of deals from origination to closing
  • Manage and mentor a team of analysts, delegating tasks and ensuring high-quality execution of underwriting, due diligence, and reporting
  • Collaborate with internal departments (legal, commercial banking, valuation, processing, operations, portfolio management) to facilitate seamless deal execution
  • Communicate directly with clients and counterparties to develop market knowledge, expand business opportunities, and deliver best-in-class service
  • Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and client meetings as needed

Qualificiations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, real estate, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in real estate lending, structured finance, or related field, with a focus on originations
  • Demonstrated ability to structure and evaluate complex real estate lender finance transactions
  • Strong underwriting and due diligence skills, including experience managing legal documentation and negotiations
  • Proven track record of managing deal pipelines and closing transactions efficiently
  • Experience leading and developing analyst teams
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external counterparties
  • High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings and industry events
