The Associate Vice President of Platform Engineering will lead the strategy, delivery, and operational excellence of Humana’s enterprise platform engineering capabilities. This role is responsible for driving innovation, scalability, and resilience across cloud-native platforms and data ecosystems that power enterprise-wide digital transformation. The AVP will oversee platform architecture, engineering practices, vendor partnerships, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure platforms are secure, efficient, and aligned with Humana’s long-term strategic goals.
This position requires a highly technical and collaborative leader with deep experience in cloud technologies, full-stack development, and enterprise-scale platform delivery. The ideal candidate brings a strong track record of building and scaling platforms, managing large engineering organizations, and delivering measurable business value.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience in platform engineering, software development, or cloud architecture
8+ years of leadership experience managing large-scale engineering teams and complex programs
Proven experience managing $30M+ portfolios and delivering enterprise-scale technology transformations
Deep technical expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, GCP), data ecosystems (Databricks, Snowflake, Kafka, DBT, Prefect), and full-stack systems
Demonstrated success in driving platform adoption, cost optimization, and engineering maturity
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience operating within highly regulated environments
Strong financial acumen and ability to tie technology investments to business outcomes
Track record of resolving cross-functional conflicts and aligning teams toward shared goals
Familiarity with Humana’s systems, processes, and enterprise architecture is a strong plus
