The Hartford is hiring an AVP IT Management. This role will have a hybrid work schedule with the expectation of working from the Charlotte, NC office.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship. Architecture Leadership & Governance
Understand the GS Commercial Lines business products and ensure that the IT portfolio effectively supports and enables these products for the business.
Works with the Global Specialty CIO, extended IT leaders, business, and IT support teams to develop and maintain technical strategies and roadmaps that are aligned with the segment’s strategic direction to ensure that capabilities required by the business are enabled.
Define and govern enterprise architecture standards to ensure consistency across Global Specialty platforms.
Be a key technical contributor to the GenAI/AI uplift, acceleration, and execution in the Global Specialty IT organization.
Review and guide solution designs, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and strategic roadmaps.
Responsible for architecture governance of Global Specialty business segments investments to ensure they are compliant with IT strategy, architecture standards, and technology directions.
Prepares and delivers comprehensive communications to convey IT architectural direction and how it aligns with enterprise strategies.
Provides enterprise architectural leadership, guidance, and support for the broader architecture community.
Has management responsibility of the solution architecture resources aligned to one or more business segments/value streams.
Engineering Maturity & Excellence
Establish and scale engineering best practices for code quality, testing automation, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and resilience.
Embed DevSecOps principles into the software delivery lifecycle, ensuring security and Introduce metrics-driven engineering maturity assessments to continuously improve productivity, quality, and speed-to-market.
Foster engineering communities compliance from inception of practice to share knowledge, patterns, and reusable assets.
Promote cloud-native and microservices-based architecture to improve agility, scalability, and maintainability.
Leadership & Talent Development
Build a high-performance engineering organization through talent acquisition, mentoring, and succession planning.
Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence.
Act as a visible engineering leader who inspires teams to deliver world-class technology solutions.
Portfolio Management:
Participates in the leadership of enterprise-wide IT services, ensuring quality solutions, while balancing technological and operational needs with financial, service and marketing needs of supported business division.
Represents the IT Organization to new and existing clients and vendors, establishing service level agreements (SLAs) to meet organization, IT, and client requirements and expectations.
Makes buy vs. build decisions relative to outsourcing vs. in-house provisioning of IT services and skills. Negotiates complex contracts, new vendor contracts, or those with significant financial implications to the business. Establishes strategic relationships with key IT suppliers, consultants, and partners.
Establishes and maintains a high level of trust and confidence in the team's knowledge of, and concern for business issues.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
