Organizational Overview: Synchrony's Risk Team provides independent oversight of Synchrony’s risk-taking activities to ensure safety and soundness, meet regulatory and legal requirements, and manage risks to the risk-appetite of the Board. Risk is responsible for independently assessing, quantifying, and overseeing risks & providing effective challenge. Risk serves as Synchrony’s Second Line of Defense.  

Overall, Risk Team oversees and manages the Risk Program to support the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues and challenges. Results are consistent with the respective strategic uses and complying with related overall risk, risk testing policies, standards, procedures as well as regulations. Our Risk organization consists of 4 pillars: Compliance, Credit & Financial Risk, Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk. Each of the pillars play a vital role in managing Risk and supports the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues, and challenges.

Enterprise Risk provides oversight on Synchrony-wide initiatives and projects and manages issues, risk assessment & reporting, risk monitoring activities, policy standards and procedure framework for governance documents.
 

Role Summary/Purpose:

We are seeking a highly skilled AVP Risk, eGRC Technical Development Lead - Workiva to join Risk team as a Workiva ERM Lead Developer as individual contributor. This role will focus on implementing and enhancing enterprise risk management (ERM) solutions leveraging the Workiva platform. The ideal candidate has strong technical proficiency in Workiva ERM and Wdata modules, proven experience in integrating risk data pipelines, and the ability to directly engage with clients to deliver scalable risk reporting solutions.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Workiva ERM solutions, including data pipelines, risk assessments, and reporting workflows.

  • Integrate Workiva ERM with internal systems such as Datamart and other GRC tools to ensure seamless data flow and accuracy.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate risk management requirements into scalable technical solutions on the Workiva platform.

  • Support Workiva ERM lifecycle activities including testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing enhancements.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational risk frameworks and assist in automation of risk reporting and monitoring processes.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or related field from a reputed institute; 7+ years relevant experience in GRC implementation or software development within Enterprise Risk Management space or 9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Strong hands-on experience with the Workiva ERM module, including risk aggregation, risk appetite statement, risk assessments, risk registers, and risk reporting capabilities within the platform. 

  • Proficient in SQL and data integration techniques to connect and transform data from multiple sources (Datamart/DWH, other GRC tools).

  • Solid understanding of enterprise risk management processes and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and experience in SDLC including testing, deployment, and support of Workiva solutions.

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience configuring and customizing Workiva ERM workflows, controls, and dashboards to support enterprise risk frameworks (e.g., COSO, ISO 31000). 

  • Familiarity with integrating Workiva ERM with GRC, compliance, financial, and operational data sources for holistic risk management. 

  • Exposure to other Workiva modules supporting risk and compliance functions, such as ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC). 

  • Knowledge of risk taxonomy, risk heat maps, and key risk indicators (KRIs) implementation in Workiva ERM. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or related field from a reputed institute; 7+ years relevant experience in GRC implementation or software development within Enterprise Risk Management space or 9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Minimum 6+ years hands-on experience with Workiva ERM Module, data pipelines, automation chains, and integrations. 

Work Timings:

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
