The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Community Engagement is accountable for positioning Healthfirst as an engaged community health partner. Our main objective is to improve member health through a holistic approach whereby we not only treat individuals but also address the needs of the communities we touch. This leader will advance HF’s goal of improving the health and well-being of members through preventative initiatives that address the social determinants of health. This role will create, align, and action the Community Partnerships strategy with Healthfirst’s internal strategic priorities and stakeholders. This individual will lead a team that directly drives HF’s enrollment and retention goals.

Initial priorities of this role will be to:

1. Identify and drive the organization’s data-driven investments to ensure the delivery of high impact solutions.
2. Track and measure outcomes and value of partnerships, sponsorships, and events
3. Partner with Healthfirst Government Affairs to advance the organization’s public policy positions within the communities we serve to collaborate on the engagement of elected officials.

This is a hybrid position which consists of reporting to our 100 Church Street, NYC office 3 days per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, align, and implement a community partnerships strategy that promotes Healthfirst in the targeted communities by working with and promoting events and programs to increase the Healthfirst brand with the intent of increasing membership.

  • Lead a team consisting of directors, senior managers, and managers and individual contributors.

  • Provide clear direction, coaching and performance feedback to the Community Outreach Representatives team to ensure they are promoting enrollment and retention opportunities for the PHSP Sales Units; by working with Chambers of Commerce & Small Business Associations, NYC DOE, CUNY and other NYC Agencies such as Workforce 1 Career Centers, Dept. of Probation, ACS, NYCHA, Taxi & Limousine Commission, Dept. of Youth and Community Development, as well as, Banks, FQHCs, Hospital Owners, Providers, Elected Officials, Day Care Centers, CBOs and other community partners.

  • Direct a tactical outline for a team of Community Engagement Specialists to ensure a robust strategy to deliver short term and long-term results, i.e.; to coordinate citywide enrollment and retention events, marketing sites, presentation forums and other venues, for the Medicare sales units, with Senior Centers, Pharmacies, Food Pantries, NYCHA, Supermarkets, Banks, FQHC, Hospital Owners, Providers, Elected Officials, CBOs and other community partners.

  • Work with all Medicare, PHSP, and Complete Care Sales leaders in the attainment of their sales goals and helping them in the implementation of identifying under-served markets and enrollment opportunities as well as the expansion of their enrollment and retention plans.

  • Selectively identify and attend Community Events, Programs and Meetings.

  • Regularly engage key partners, contacts and associates (i.e., Managed Care and Community Outreach Directors, FQHC leaders, key Elected Officials or Staff, Leaders of Chambers of Commerce, and Business Associations, Leaders of key City Agency Partners, Faith-based Leaders).

  • Align to Healthfirst clinical strategy working with internal departments to further improve the lives of our members through initiatives that tackle social determinants of health.

  • Identify external partners and influential regional leaders in aligning and accelerating existing collaborative work that advances Healthfirst’s corporate objectives.

  • Engage Healthfirst employees in volunteer opportunities, community events and external activities.

  • Help advance expansion into new markets by cultivating relationships in new territories.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong management and leadership capabilities

  • An astute understanding of the NYC managed care market and urban healthcare delivery networks

  • Proven Project Management abilities

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to establish relationships with a broad spectrum of community and national healthcare leaders through presentations, meetings, conferences and associations

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across the organization/departments

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Hiring Range*:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $168,900 - $258,400

  • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $168,900 - $258,400

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
