About the Role

The Avionics Technician II is responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing avionics equipment and systems for our aerospace vehicles. This role involves performing equipment setup and maintenance activities, using precision measurement tools, and fabricating fixtures. The technician will also apply precision cleaning, chemistry processes, and best shop practices, including 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness. This position is essential for ensuring the reliability and performance of our avionics systems, contributing to the overall success of our aerospace missions.

In this role, you will install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair avionics equipment and systems, as well as perform equipment setup and maintenance activities. You will use precision measurement tools to fabricate fixtures for use, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and simple geometry, and perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes. Adhering to general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements, you will demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware. Additionally, you will apply 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness in your daily tasks, collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to project timelines, and document and report any issues or discrepancies found during inspections and tests.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically 2+ years of related experience.

  • Familiarity with general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements.

  • Ability to perform basic equipment setup and maintenance activities and display general mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency.

  • Able to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for use, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and simple geometry.

  • Ability to learn and perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes.

  • Ability to learn 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.

  • Ability to demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or a related technical field.

  • Certification: Airman's certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification.

  • Experience with avionics systems and equipment, including but not limited to navigation, communication, and flight control systems.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

  • Familiarity with avionics testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.

  • Knowledge of software tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting of avionics systems.

  • Understanding of RF (Radio Frequency) principles and their application in avionics systems.

  • Experience with soldering and crimping techniques for avionics wiring and connectors.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

 

 

Compensation:

Pay Range:

$25.10 - $34.51

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
