Position Overview
Under the supervision of the AV & Technical Event Services Manager, the AV & Event Services Engineer supports the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of audio‑visual systems across corporate meeting rooms, conference rooms, and event spaces. This role focuses on developing technical depth while providing hands‑on support for events and day‑to‑day AV operations for employees and event stakeholders.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with setup, configuration, operation, and basic troubleshooting of AV equipment in meeting rooms, event spaces, and labs.
- Support presentations, webinars, and live events by operating microphones, projectors, cameras, and other AV equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, basic repairs, and equipment checks to ensure AV readiness.
- Collaborate with event organizers to understand technical requirements for small‑ to medium‑scale events.
- Provide on‑site support during events under the guidance of senior engineers or event leads.
- Help document event setups or room standards as needed.
- Provide user assistance for common AV issues and educate employees on proper use of AV equipment.
- Contribute to creating or updating user guides, knowledge‑base articles, and training materials.
- Apply basic soft skills which are required to perform the job.
- Strong understanding of AV infrastructures.
- Display strong customer service skills.
- Ability to accept feedback and direction from senior team members to support skill development and service quality.
- Exercise the ability to remain composed under pressure, especially during live events or time-sensitive situations.
- Apply excellent time-management skills to balance multiple support requests, events, and maintenance tasks.
- Display a willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and AV standards through hands-on experience and mentorship.

- Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as needed.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed.
- Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 25% of a typical working day.
- Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
- Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability and means to travel 20% between Madison locations.
- Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- 2 years of relevant job-related experience.
- Proficiency with real-time technical troubleshooting best practices.
- Expert computer skills to include internet navigation and email usage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license; no suspended, revoked, surrendered, invalid, etc. allowed.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications
- Basic experience with AV control systems (Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp).
- Knowledgeable experience of Microsoft Teams Rooms.
- Strong understanding of broadcast infrastructure (Ross, Allen & Heath, Sony).
- Q-SYS level 1 certification.
- Dante Certification.
- Crestron Certified Programmer.

Salary Range:
$46,000.00 - $74,000.00
The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
