What’s the role
This role will be responsible for provision of dedicated Automation & Control Systems Maintenance and integrity of all physical plant and equipment.
The Automation Services team is responsible for ensuring all physical and virtual automations plant and equipment is reliable, compliant, well maintained and safe.
What you’ll be doing
Core accountabilities
Deliver accurate, timely technical support for control systems, networks, local operating stations, and serve as site focal point for ICSS/PLC maintenance and reliability issues.
Perform on‑call support, planned and corrective maintenance, ensuring proper closeout, root‑cause identification, and escalation of systemic issues to PACO Engineering.
Provide engineering support—including procedures, specifications, technical advice, and management of critical drawings—while ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
Assist Operations, Engineering, commissioning, and maintenance teams with test procedures, maintenance strategies, and procedural development.
Participate in and sometimes lead design reviews, HAZOPs, SIL reviews, and incident investigations.
Monitor asset integrity, act as Barrier Owner for safety‑critical elements, and ensure all modifications follow the Management of Change process.
Define scopes for shutdowns and major maintenance activities, and stay up to date with technology advancements.
Maintain required personal competency and support PACO Engineering as needed.

What you bring
Tertiary qualification in Control/Instrumentation/Electrical engineering (or equivalent significant trade experience), with strong analytical, problem‑solving, supervisory, communication, and collaboration skills.
Strong, proven experience with ABB System 800xA across operations, engineering, configuration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimisation.
Experience with ABB AC 800M controllers, including Control Builder configuration, Function Designer (FBD, parameters, I/O allocation), and redundant controller architectures.
Hands‑on capability with ABB I/O platforms (S800/S900), including diagnostics, maintenance, and fault finding.
Proficiency in Safety System design and programming, including ABB safety solutions (e.g., AC 800M HI), graphics development, safety lifecycle knowledge, and participation in FSA, FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
Experience with PMS/ENMS/MicroSCADA and strong working knowledge of IEC 61850 for substation communications, IED event interpretation, and SCADA integration.
Demonstrated background supporting ABB‑based DCS, PLC, ICSS, and SCADA in live operational environments, ideally within hydrocarbon or gas compression facilities.
Broader experience with multiple PLC/DCS/ICSS/SCADA systems, including software development, control system changes, alarm management, and asset integrity processes.
Understanding of safety management systems, regulatory compliance (local/state), and engineering/asset management procedures.
High proficiency in computing tools (Microsoft Office, maintenance systems), strong time‑management, results‑orientation, and commitment to asset integrity and reliable plant operation.
