Job Description Summary
The Automation Lead – Finance Transformation will drive the strategy, design, and implementation of digital automation solutions across GlobalFoundries’ CFO organization. This role will partner closely with IT, Shared Services/BPO, and Finance business process owners to identify automation opportunities, develop scalable digital use cases, and deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, cost-to-serve, cycle time, and user experience.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in leading RPA (Robotic Process Automation), AI/ML, and workflow optimization initiatives, with a strong understanding of finance processes such as Accounts Payable, Payroll, Record-to-Report, and Financial Reporting. This role requires a balance of business process knowledge, technical fluency, and change leadership.
Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Define and execute the Finance Automation roadmap aligned to CFO strategic priorities and transformation objectives.
Partner with Finance leadership, IT, and BPO providers to identify, assess, and prioritize automation opportunities using data-driven methods.
Lead the intake, assessment, and governance process for automation use cases through evaluation, development, and deployment stages.
Collaborate with process owners to document business requirements, process flows, and automation design specifications.
Oversee development of automation solutions using platforms such as UiPath, Power Automate, SAP Build Process Automation, or equivalent tools.
Monitor and report automation performance through KPI dashboards, including cycle time reduction, touchless transaction rates, cost savings, and error reduction.
Establish governance frameworks for automation delivery, controls, and change management.
Ensure automation solutions comply with SOX, IT security, and segregation of duties (SOD) requirements.
Partner with Continuous Improvement (CI) and Data & Analytics teams to integrate automation into broader process optimization initiatives.
Support the development of automation playbooks, templates, and reusable components for global scalability.
Drive communication, training, and change adoption activities related to automation initiatives.
Promote a culture of digital innovation and continuous improvement across Finance Operations.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner, supporting all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs and requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation, knowledge sharing, and compliance with GF governance frameworks.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in process automation, digital transformation, or intelligent automation (RPA, AI, ML, workflow).
Strong understanding of finance operations processes (e.g., Report-to-Report, AP, Payroll, GL, Financial Reporting).
Hands-on experience with automation tools such as UiPath, Power Automate, Automation Anywhere, or SAP Build.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple automation initiatives through an intake-to-value lifecycle.
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.
Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent process improvement certification.
PMP or Agile Project Management certification.
Experience integrating automation with SAP S/4HANA, Ariba, Concur, or ServiceNow.
Experience leading automation governance or Centers of Excellence (CoE).
Experience applying AI/ML or Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) technologies (e.g., OCR, NLP).
Collaborative and business-savvy with a proactive approach to identifying digital transformation opportunities.
Resilient under pressure with a bias for action.
