Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a skilled Automation Test Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. The role involves designing, developing, and executing automated testing solutions to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products. The successful candidate will contribute to the company's strategic objectives by enhancing testing efficiency, increasing test coverage, and reducing time-to-market through innovative automation practices. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and support continuous improvement initiatives across development and QA functions.
Software Requirements
- Required: JavaScript, TypeScript, Selenium, TestNG, Maven, Jenkins, JIRA
- Preferred: WebdriverIO, Playwright, API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured)
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines is essential
- Experience with API testing and database testing will be advantageous
Overall Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts aligned with project requirements
- Execute functional, regression, and API tests to validate software quality
- Identify, document, and track software defects using standard tracking tools
- Collaborate with development and QA teams to optimize testing processes and ensure timely project delivery
- Provide input on test planning, test case design, and test strategy improvements
- Participate actively in agile sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to support continuous testing improvements
Technical Skills (By Category)
- Programming Languages: JavaScript, TypeScript (Required); additional languages are a plus
- Testing Frameworks and Libraries: Selenium, WebdriverIO, Playwright, TestNG, Maven, Jenkins (Required)
- API Testing and Data Management: Experience with Postman, REST Assured, understanding of API validation, and database testing
- Frontend Technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Backend/Database Technologies: APIs, SQL databases
- DevOps and CI/CD: Understanding of pipelines, version control, and automation tools
- Security Protocols: Not specifically required for this role
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in automation testing roles, with at least 3 years focused on Selenium and Java-based automation
- Proven track record of developing and executing automation frameworks in complex environments
- Experience working within Agile development teams
- Alternative pathways include extensive hands-on experience with automation tools and frameworks, even if not within traditional employment settings
Day-to-Day Activities
- Create, review, and refine automated test cases and scripts regularly
- Troubleshoot and debug test automation scripts to improve stability and reliability
- Collaborate in sprint planning to align testing activities with development progress
- Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and quality assurance discussions
- Provide feedback on test automation strategies and best practices to enhance test effectiveness
- Report on testing status, defects, and quality metrics to stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered
- Professional certifications in automation or related fields are preferred but not mandatory
- Commitment to continuous learning of emerging testing tools and methodologies
