Location: Ancaster, Ontario (onsite)
Travel: Required between JE locations

As our next Automation Project Specialist, you’ll be at the forefront of programming, debugging, installation, and startup of new or modified production and test equipment. Your expertise in robotics, PLC programming, and automation systems will be crucial in driving innovation and ensuring operational efficiency.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Support design, build, and commissioning of automation equipment (assembly lines, robotic cells, test equipment).
• Troubleshoot and diagnose robot cells (Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB).
• Program PLCs, HMIs, vision and motion systems, and safety controllers.
• Modify existing production equipment and develop Labview-based programs.
• Set up controls networks (Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT).
• Prepare electrical schematics and select components (E-plan experience is an asset).
• Collaborate with mechanical designers and attend design reviews.
• Provide customer support during equipment commissioning.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and prepare technical documentation.
• Ensure safety compliance in all automation changes.
• Perform run-at-rate process performance testing.
• Specify and source materials and equipment as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

• Technical diploma or degree in engineering technology.
• 5+ years of experience in an automation environment.
• Expert-level PLC programming (Omron NJ, Allen Bradley) and robot programming (Fanuc, Yaskawa, Kuka).
• Hands-on experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of Labview programming and SQL databases is an asset.
• Understanding of automotive systems and IATF 16949/ISO9001 requirements.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel as required.

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Experience in vision systems and force monitoring.
• Familiarity with E-plan for electrical design.
