Technical Project Manager, Automation & Robotics
Description:
The Project Manager, Automation & Robotics role is responsible for scope definition, system design, execution and commissioning of automated equipment for discrete manufacturing processes across a portfolio of manufacturing sites. The position partners with site and engineering leaders to develop technology roadmaps and supports project execution. As a subject matter expert in automated process equipment, this role engages a global community to solve problems, build capabilities and share learnings. The position partners within the global Automation & Robotics team to support the overall strategy and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project plans and milestone deliverables for industrial automation & robotics projects.
- Identify automation opportunities at multiple DuPont manufacturing sites.
- Work with manufacturing sites to understand needs and dependencies.
- Provide expertise in automated process equipment including robotics, barcoding, and inspection systems (vision and scanning).
- Manage project schedules and how they interact with overall program needs.
- Work closely with program managers and functional leaders to develop optimal plans and resolve roadblocks to meet program and project goals.
- Supporting assembly, integration, and test activities including build procedures, test plans/procedures, and other verification and validations execution activities.
- 30% travel, including domestic & international.
- Experience managing budgets and resources for technical projects
- Collaborate and support the DuPont S1M machine safety standards. Proactively address machine safety risks by participating in machine risk assessments (MRAs) during design and execution.
- Provides technical expertise to support the following:
- Automation Assessments
- Capital projects including Statements of Work (SOW), Design Reviews, Construction, Acceptance Tests, Commissioning, and Safety Reviews
- Site Automation Evaluations/Improvements
- Communicates successes, slips and challenges to the leadership team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics/Robotics or other related technical fields and 3+ years of experience in an industrial automation environment.
- 5+ years of experience in a discrete manufacturing environment focused on the scoping, design, development and maintenance of automated equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate full lifecycle of automation & robotics systems involving hardware and software interaction.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a challenging, diverse team environment in a respectful manner.
- Hands on experience in an automation environment either as an automation integrator, contract manufacturing or in-house automation group.
- Familiarity with common program/project management tools, including Microsoft Project, Gantt charts, and risk tracking frameworks.
- Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, or similar CAD tools.
- Ability to self-govern with minimal supervision, establish workload priorities, and utilize efficient time management practices to achieve assigned tasks.
Preferred Capabilities and Experiences:
- 10+ years of project management experience in a discrete manufacturing environment focused on the scoping, design, development and maintenance of automated equipment.
- Experience building relationships with vendors, suppliers, integrators and expertise in negotiating cost, schedule and quality of projects on delivery.
- Experience specifying solutions required for automation projects like - PLC systems, industrial robots, cobots, machine vision, sensors & instrumentation, gantries, conveyors, AMR/AGVs, electrical panel design, fabrication, assembly, etc.
