Job Summary:
The Automation Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated manufacturing equipment and systems within BD Infusion Therapy Systems, Inc.'s production facilities. This role ensures optimal operational efficiency and minimizes downtime through expert mechanical, electrical, and controls support.
Job Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on a variety of automated production machinery, including robotics, conveyors, assembly lines, and packaging equipment, following established procedures and schedules.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic issues on automated systems, utilizing schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools.
Execute corrective maintenance and repairs, including replacing worn or defective parts, adjusting components, and performing alignments to restore equipment to optimal operating conditions.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
Install, commission, and de-commission new and existing automated equipment, ensuring proper integration and functionality.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, parts used, and downtime.
Adhere to all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
Suggest and implement improvements to maintenance procedures and equipment design to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Provide technical support and training to production operators on basic equipment operation and preventative maintenance tasks.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects aimed at optimizing automation performance and reducing operational costs.
Job Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 0-3 years of experience in an automation maintenance role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a medical device or regulated industry.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Experience with various control systems, including HMI interfaces, and servo drives.
Knowledge of pneumatic systems, including component identification, troubleshooting, and repair.
Ability to use a wide range of hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for documenting work and collaborating with colleagues.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in various physical positions, including bending, kneeling, and climbing.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed for emergency repairs or scheduled maintenance.
