Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 355th Force Support Squadron at the Auto Skills Center at Davis Monthan AFB. This position is Regular Part Time, meaning it guarantee's 20 hours with the eligibility of working up to 40. This position includes benefits like Health and Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, 401k, and Retirement.

Major Duties:

  • The purpose of this position is to plan and administer the activities, service and staff of the Auto Hobby Center. Assist Patrons in automotive repairs and service needs. Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the Auto Hobby and its resale function. Ensures compliance with established fire, safety, and security requirements. Ensures cleanliness and maintenance or facilities and equipment. Performs safety inspections on tools and equipment on a regular basis. Develops and maintains hazardous waste program to include hazardous waste accumulation point, related training and records maintenance as required by federal and state laws. Maintains a current library of maintenance manuals and catalogs, and ensures necessary tools and equipment are available to accommodate patrons. Conducts or arranges for, automotive instructional classes for patrons. Assists patrons with automotive problems or questions. Prepares promotional event requests and provides them to management for review. Collects, deposits, and verifies all funds received from operation or activity. Monitors records and ensures proper cash handling procedures arc followed. Develops and verifies all quarterly and annual budgets for appropriated and non-appropriated funds including justification statements and approves all expenditures. Exercises cost control measures to ensure costs arc in line with approved budgets. Selects and purchases resale and special-order items, prices items so that profit margins are maintained according to established goals. Maintains a government purchase card account in accordance with all training and policies for government procurement. Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities such as assigns work to subordinates based on priorities and deadlines, selects employees, grants leave and provides appropriate recognition and feedback for employee performance. Qualifying Experience: Must have responsible administrative, professional, technical or other work which has provided a general knowledge of management principles and progressively responsible experience in one or more functions managed by an automotive supervisor. Must have specialized experience in the automotive skills center or an automotive service center with supervision over the various phases of automotive mechanics to include diagnostics and repair which provided an in-depth knowledge of automotive, service procedures, rules and regulations. Knowledge of automotive mechanics which includes the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair/correct problems. Must be able to use a wide variety of automotive tools, read and interpret parts manuals, schematics and manufacturer's repair manuals. Certification by the National Institute of Automotive Service for Excellence or a 2-year community/technical college certification in the automotive field is highly desirable. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must be able to frequently lift, and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally, objects weighing over 50 pounds. This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results. This position requires a drug test.
