AutoCAD Specialist

Position Overview

The AutoCAD Specialist plays a critical role in creating, managing, and maintaining technical design drawings and documentation for facility projects. This position focuses on producing high-quality CAD drawings while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and coordination across all design documentation throughout project lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Drawing Production

Create and develop architectural, engineering, and construction drawings using AutoCAD software
Produce accurate technical drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections, and details
Convert hand sketches and redlines into precise CAD drawings
Generate drawing packages for various project phases and submittals

Drawing Management & Coordination

Maintain drawing files, templates, and CAD standards
Coordinate drawings with architects, engineers, and design consultants
Manage drawing revisions, version control, and distribution processes
Ensure drawing sets are complete, accurate, and properly coordinated

Quality Control & Standards Compliance

Follow established CAD standards, templates, and layer conventions
Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with codes
Ensure all drawings meet industry standards and client requirements
Maintain consistency across drawing sets and project documentation

Project Support & Collaboration

Support project teams with timely delivery of drawing packages
Participate in design coordination meetings and drawing reviews
Assist with drawing submittals and approval processes
Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants

Documentation & Filing

Maintain organized digital filing systems and document management protocols
Create and update drawing logs, schedules, and project documentation
Archive completed drawings and maintain project records
Support document distribution and project closeout activities

Required Qualifications

Education & Training

Associate degree in Drafting Technology, CAD Design, Architecture, or related field
AutoCAD certification or equivalent technical training preferred
Continuing education in CAD software and industry standards

Experience

2-4 years of experience in CAD drafting and technical drawing production
Experience with architectural, engineering, or construction drawings
Knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and industry standards
Previous experience in commercial real estate or facilities projects preferred

Technical Skills

Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD software (2D drafting and 3D modeling)
Knowledge of CAD standards, layer management, and template creation
Familiarity with other design software (Revit, SketchUp) is a plus
Understanding of construction documentation and drawing conventions
Basic knowledge of document management systems

Office-based position with standard business hours
Occasional flexibility required to meet project deadlines
Collaborative work environment with cross-functional teams
Minimal travel, with possible site visits for project verification
