Role Overview:

The FirstRand Namibia Internal Audit function provides risk-based and objective assurance, advice and insight to enhance and protect organisational value with a mandate that spans across the FirstRand Namibia group.

Role Purpose:

The FirstRand Namibia Chief Audit Executive will form part of a dynamic team both in the FirstRand Namibia group as well as the FirstRand Group Internal Audit function. The role plays a critical part in formulating strategy and associated delivery plans related for the internal audit function ensuring integration and operational implementation through the achievement of Group Internal Audit objectives. These strategies are also aimed at supporting the business in delivering its strategic objectives by objectively assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of governance and management of risks, giving an evidence-based opinion on all aspects of governance, risk management and internal control. The role is responsible to develop and oversee a risk-based internal audit plan across the various business activities of the FirstRand Namibia Group.

  • Relevant industry knowledge, strong communication skills, both oral communication and written.
  • Possesses audit, risk management, regulatory, project management and accounting skills and experience amongst others.
  • Prepare/review and own audit committee and other governance packs/regulatory submissions and represent GIA in the respective governance committees.
  • Perform responsibilities with transparency, due professional care and with highest ethical standards to ensure audit outcomes align with work performed and the audit file. 

You will be an ideal candidate if you meet the below minimum requirements:

  • Minimum Qualification: Relevant Post Graduate Degree
  • Preferred Qualification: Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Internal Audit (CIA)
  • Experience: Minimum eight years’ experience in a similar environment of which at least five years ideally at management level and preferably be in financial services
