Job Summary: You will serve as an AUDIOLOGIST the FORCE HEALTH PROTECTION of NMRTC PORTSMOUTH VA. THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: Applicants must meet positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience serving as an audiologist providing diagnostic audiology care and services. Experience providing hearing loss prevention consultation services, hearing protection fittings/consultations; and hearing conservation technician competency assessments. Experience providing data and reports regarding Hearing Conservation Program compliance, Significant Threshold Shift (STS) rates, and other program metrics. Experience performing administrative Hearing Conservation Program oversight to ensure quality care and services, accurate test protocols, and valid audiometric data collection. Experience utilizing the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System - Hearing Conservation (DOEHRS-HC) data repository systems in order to perform quality analysis or hearing conservation data. Experience applying protocols and procedures in the prevention, mitigation and management of hearing disorders. Experience performing audiology assessments and making diagnosis and treatment recommendations for auditory disorders. Experience providing management and oversight of Industrial/Occupational Hearing Conservation Programs and hearing loss prevention efforts.
