Your New Role:
EXAMPLE: An Atlassian Engineer is a specialized technical professional responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions within the Atlassian suite of products, such as Jira, Confluence, and related tools. Their role includes configuring enterprise workflows, automating processes, integrating Atlassian platforms with other developer tools, and leveraging AI-driven features to enhance collaboration and productivity across engineering teams. Atlassian Engineers also conduct system health checks, optimize performance, and manage the lifecycle of plugins and applications within cloud or data center environments.
Your Role Accountabilities:
• Atlassian & AI Operations (Rovo): Lead the operational rollout of Atlassian Rovo; build and tune specialized AI agents to automate documentation, sprint summaries, and support triage; and ensure Rovo is properly connected to enterprise data sources to provide high fidelity AI insights.
• Advanced Automation & Scripting: Bridge the gap between tools using Jira Automation,Script Runner (Groovy), and GitHub Actions; and write custom middleware or scripts (Python/Node.js) to ensure data flows seamlessly from a Jira ticket to a GitHub PR and through to deployment.
• Toolchain Integration: Build and maintain the "connective tissue" of our stack by integrating the Atlassian suite with Slack, GitHub, Snyk, and CI/CD pipelines via REST APIs and Atlassian Forge.
• Performance Monitoring: Conduct regular health checks on system performance, manage plugin/app lifecycles, and lead cloud migration or optimization projects to reduce technical debt.
• Project Planning: Help establish and coordinate the project plan for migrating the project into production.
• Develop and define new and improved workflows and initiatives.
• Help develop and deliver training and training materials for new processes.
• Work with key stakeholders to define and document a communication plan.
• Support management with special assignments, such as evaluating vendors, gathering and evaluating consultant proposals, and completing other responsibilities as requested.
• Resolve tickets and issues raised by users.
STRATEGY
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand team needs and dependencies and align business processes accordingly.
• Develop and execute a methodology to evaluate, prioritize, and monitor business process success.
• Articulate strategic issues clearly and provide relevant, logical options to resolve them.
• Create comprehensive, meaningful strategy presentations for senior executives.
• Build frameworks and drive development of business intelligence tools and dashboards to support ongoing business planning and KPI-based goal measurement.
ANALYTICS
● Develop comprehensive performance analyses of business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
● Participate actively in stakeholder meetings to understand planned major projects and initiatives.
Qualifications & Experiences:
• Core Experience: 3–5 years in a technical role managing Atlassian (Jira/Confluence)
• AI Operations: Practical knowledge of Atlassian Rovo and GitHub Copilot. Familiarity with
prompt engineering and the operational challenges of deploying AI agents in a corporate
environment.
• Scripting & API Proficiency: * Strong proficiency in Groovy, JavaScript, or Python.
• Deep experience working with REST APIs and Webhooks.
• Agile Expertise: Mastery of Scrum and Kanban frameworks within a scaled engineering
environment.
• Translate insights into a compelling narrative while balancing detail with the larger picture.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Build strong working relationships across teams.
• Collaborate effectively with small teams.
• Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
Preferred (Not Required) Experience:
• Bring an engineering or similar background.
• Use visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Work comfortably in a highly iterative, somewhat unstructured environment.
• GitHub Enterprise Management: Act as the primary administrator for GitHub; manage repository structures, branch protection rules, and GitHub Actions; and oversee GitHub Copilot deployment and seat management to ensure developers leverage AI-assisted coding effectively.
