This position provides care to assigned patients performing routine nursing treatments as delegated by a registered nurse (RN), physician, or Advanced Practice Provider (APP). This position is responsible for assisting providers with patient care by controlling allergy shot patient flow, obtaining and documenting necessary history and vital signs, performing assigned procedures, mixing immunotherapy antigen and providing patient education.
Performs a variety of assigned duties which promote a safe and organized environment for the delivery of services to children and their families within the ambulatory clinic setting.

Requirements

  • Requires job knowledge acquired through a high school education plus two years of advanced education in the biological sciences or specialized training in anatomy and physiology or equivalent work experience

  • Must have educational training in a health care program that includes medication administration. This can be acquired in an accredited Medical Assistant or Nursing Program.

  • Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.

  • Requires a minimum of twelve months of related experience. Previous experience in administering immunizations and other injections preferred.

  • Clinical experience in allergy preferred, but not required.

  • Ability to work with a diverse patient population to promote a culturally competent environment.

  • Analytical ability in order to assess patient's changing condition and report accordingly.

  • Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with physicians, patient, parents and staff.

  • Familiarity with computer operations and functions, specifically Microsoft Office. Experience with EPIC electronic health records preferred.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills required.
