Northrop Grumman is seeking Associate Operations/Systems Engineers to support the launcher subsystem of the Strategic Weapons System onboard OHIO and COLUMBIA class submarines and associated underwater launcher systems. This position will be located at our Mission Systems sector in Naval Base Kitsap – Bangor, Silverdale, WA.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Strategic Launcher Programs (SLP), Launcher Operating Unit.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Provide Field Support at the Explosive Handling Wharf(s) during ordnance handling events and launcher subsystem maintenance periods.
• Support Trident Refit Facility Weapons Repair Shop during submarine refit periods.
• Provide technical training and facility/equipment upkeep support at the Trident Training Facility.
• Support SSGN Major Maintenance Periods and SSBN Extended Refit Periods.
• Support Naval Magazine Indian Island during Tomahawk handling evolutions as an on-site technical representative.
• Support Advanced Launcher Programs working with design teams and supporting field installation and test activities.
Basic Qualifications:
A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
• Be completing or has completed their degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution
• Be majoring in or having majored in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
• The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
• Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking, problem solving skills and systems engineering approach/thinking and mindset
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Ability to interface directly with multiple customers and associated contractors
• Ability to provide timely and accurate reporting
• Ability to implement local and corporate safety policies
• Qualified candidates should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications:
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher
Experience in the U.S. Navy's Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program as well as with the OHIO Class Trident II D5 Missile Strategic Weapon System (SWS), its Launcher Subsystem, and related Launcher Support Equipment
Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance
Salary Range: $72,700-$109,100
