The Opportunity
TC Energy is seeking a highly detailed-oriented and analytical legal assistant to join our Supply Chain and Real Estate Law, and Legal Operations department. The role is perfect for someone who thrives in providing excellent client service, solving problems, ensuring accuracy, and delivering polished, professional work.
You will play a critical role in providing administrative and legal support to the overall department and directly support multiple lawyers. Your keen eye for detail, solutions-focused approach and passion for administrative work using a variety of corporate and business tools and technology will be valued in this dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Applicants interested in this opportunity must have strong technical and organizational skills and an ability to work collaboratively with various levels of employees and leadership across the organization. You should also have experience (or a strong interest) in using AI (e.g. Microsoft Co-Pilot) to enhance your knowledge, skills, processes, and overall administrative work and skills.
What you’ll do
Provide organization and administrative cohesiveness to the department as a whole
Provide analysis, input, reports, responses, blacklining, proofreading, officer signatures, and redactions by utilizing a variety of corporate and legal-specific systems including SAP technical codes, BPC budgeting tools, MS Teams, Co-Pilot, Outlook, DocuSign, Workshare Compare, Diligent Entities, Adobe Professional, TeamConnect, iManage, High Gear, SharePoint, Power BI dashboards, Open Text, IRIMS legacy
Manage all forms of information using department and Company document management processes
Manage forms of external legal retainers and internal requests for approval with respect to external legal retainers
Prepare department budget, monitor budgetary expenses and prepare team budget forecasts
Assist with the preparation of legal documents, agreements, correspondence, reports, and submissions
Collaborate with team colleagues to establish internal team administrative processes
Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings and appointments; coordinating travel arrangements, ordering supplies, time recording, preparing expense reports for lawyers
Handle confidential information in a professional manner
Coordinate daily office administrative duties (meetings, events, training, catering, mail, deliveries, filing, archiving hard-copy material)
Provide backup and vacation coverage to the department Paralegal by monitoring client-inboxes other legal-assistants in the larger department
Other tasks and projects as required
Minimum Qualifications
Passion for administration
Self-starter with ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and initiate self-learning in the corporate and legal environment using tools and technology necessary to accomplish workflow tasks
Exceptional computer skills; intermediate knowledge of Excel, advanced to expert knowledge of Word (styles, blacklining, table of contents), Outlook, and PowerPoint and ability to quickly acquire skills in corporate and legal-specific tools and technology
Strong interest in administrative tools, technology and processes; and the ability to learn key technological processes as prescribed by the corporation and/or department
Post-secondary certification in recognized program of administration and/or legal assistant program
Progressive administration experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate of SAIT AIM program
Experience with administrative management and law office work
Minimum 5 years of experience
