Associate Supplier Engineer (Onsite)

US - Massachusetts (Acton - Office) Full time

Position Overview: 
The Associate Supplier Engineer is a key member of the Supplier Engineering group, which is part of Insulet’s Global Procurement and Supplier Development organization.  Insulet manages a global supply chain and sources precision components and commodities from around the world for use in its devices.  The Associate Supplier Engineer works closely with peers in Quality, Manufacturing and Sourcing to support and implement new capital equipment at suppliers, carry out new product introductions, execute improvement projects, resolve business-critical technical issues, and investigate corrective actions in response to quality issues across the supply base. 

The ideal candidate should have the passion and drive to grow their career working with suppliers of custom precision components for use in medical devices and should have a strong mechanical or manufacturing engineering aptitude.  Candidates should enjoy the factory setting and be comfortable interfacing with and influencing supplier personnel ranging from shop floor operators to leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and/or support the qualification and validation of components and associated tooling to ensure supplier’s capability to meet robust quality and manufacturing capacity requirements

  • Monitor and address day-to-day component issues within Insulet’s US automated manufacturing lines in support of meeting operational efficiency and first pass yield targets

  • Utilize six sigma and statistical tools and resources when applicable to assist with problem solving and prevent recurrence of issues

  • Travel to suppliers to lead root cause and corrective actions in response to quality issues

  • Participate in product design reviews with emphasis on design for manufacture

  • All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Engineering degree (mechanical, manufacturing/industrial, plastics preferred)

  • Co-op/intern experience working in an engineering and/or manufacturing

Preferred Skills and Competencies:  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Familiarity with Solidworks / Pro-E and statistical skills using Excel, JMP, or Minitab

  • Working knowledge of MS Office

  • Ability to travel domestically/Internationally – 20% max; 10% typical

  • Outstanding team player who seeks and values diverse input to hone ideas

  • Highly-motivated, self-starter

  • Appreciates the value of timelines and enjoys working in the focused environment that they create

Physical Requirements:

  • General Office Environment, may sit for long periods of time.

Additional Information:

Compensation & Benefits: For U.S.-based positions only, the annual base salary range for this role is $59,300.00 - $88,925.00 This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation.
